Due Tuesday, January 6th
Most everyone has seen the fun Google Doodles created on the Google homepage. Well, the first Art Challenge, open to all LMS students, is similar to this, but instead of decorating the word Google, you will be decorating the numbers 2015 to celebrate the upcoming New Year. Entries are due to Mrs. Griffis on or before Tuesday, January 6th, and winners will be announced Thursday, January 8th.
Entry Guidelines: WHO CAN ENTER: Every student at Lakenheath Middle School can enter this contest, not just those students in Mrs. Griffis’s art classes. MATERIALS: Your doodle can be created using pencil, crayons, felt tip pens, or paint. PAPER: Your New Year Doodle should be created on a white, landscape sheet of paper no larger than 8 1/2 x 11. THEME: There should an identifiable theme to your doodle that is carried throughout your drawing. RECOGNIZABLE: Make sure the numbers 2015 are clearly visible and recognizable. In other words, don’t decorate it so much that the numbers are hidden. TRANSFORM: Transform the numbers 2015 into objects that support your theme. CREATIVE: Be creative and come up with an idea that hasn’t been thought of before. COLORFUL: Make it colorful. DO YOUR BEST! If you are or have been in Mrs. Griffis’s art class, you need to incorporate the “20 Secrets to Drawing.” Those who would like to peak at those secrets can click here. BE NEAT: Make sure there are no smudge marks and all stray marks are erased. SIGNATURE: Sign your doodle by neatly writing your initials only next to your doodle. Be sure not to write your first or last name on the front of your picture. LABELING: In pencil, on the back of your doodle, write your first and last name, along with your homebase teacher, grade, and house. With so many students, all of this information is very important. NUMBER OF ENTRIES: There is no limit to the number of entries; however, just make sure all of them follow the guidelines above and you have done your very best on each one. DEADLINE: Doodle entries are due to Mrs. Griffis by Tuesday, January 6th no later than 3:00 PM. They can either be turned into the office to be put into her mailbox, or if you are one of her art students, you can bring them to class. WINNERS ANNOUNCED: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place, along with Honorable Mentions, will be announced on Thursday, January 8th. Winners will receive a certificate and a little surprise, & will be announced on the art website, school TV, and our morning news. It should be lots of fun seeing everyone’s themed 2015 New Year Doodle! Good luck, have fun, and with everything, do your best! |
